Young Entrepreneur Thrives with NDB’s Support
Timothy Wai, a young entrepreneur from Teremanda village in Wabag district, Enga Province, is turning his dreams into reality, thanks to a business loan from the National Development Bank (NDB). Through the National Government’s MSME credit guarantee scheme, Timothy secured a stock loan from NDB’s Wabag Branch, providing him the capital boost he needed to grow his business.
Starting with small street sales of cold soft drinks around Wabag Town, Timothy saved diligently and gradually expanded his operations to include second-hand clothing sales. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish a retail trade store in his village, marking a significant milestone in his business journey.
It was a chance encounter with an NDB employee that introduced Timothy to the MSME products available through the bank. After registering his business, obtaining a Tax Identification Number, and opening a business account, Timothy successfully applied for a stock loan. "NDB’s MSME loan product has empowered my business, and I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity,” he said.
Looking ahead, Timothy is committed to building a strong partnership with NDB. "I want to repay my loan on time to show the bank that I am serious about my business,” he expressed confidently.
Timothy’s journey reflects the impact of NDB’s support for local entrepreneurs and the positive influence of the MSME credit scheme on small businesses across Papua New Guinea.
