The National Development Bank Limited (“NDB”) of Papua New Guinea invites applications for the vacant position of INTERNAL AUDIT OFFICER.
Reporting to the Manager Internal Audit, the Audit Officer is responsible for reviewing and assessing NDB Ltd processes, controls and practices, as well as related procedures according to the yearly audit plans approved by the Board Audit & Risk Committee or as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.
Functionality
- Prepare or contribute to the preparation of work plans (including risk assessment) and audit programs for assurance and/or consulting engagements.
- Conduct discussions of preliminary nature with heads of operations audited.
- Conduct – in accordance with IIA standards (www.theiia.org) - segments of financial, operational and compliance audits of complex, medium and small operations.
- Obtain required information directly or indirectly through examination of records or interviews with staff.
- For the processes audited, review and evaluate the system of management controls and assess their adequacy and effectiveness and, where appropriate, draft potential recommendations for improvements.
- Prepare working papers documenting adequately work performed.
- Draft segments of the reports and communications on the results of work performed, for review by the Manager Audit.
- Assess the reliability and effective use of internal controls and assist in reviewing administrative procedures.
- Perform fieldwork in all NDB Departments, branches and business units.
- Provide assurance that operations and processes conform to current NDB Ltd policies and procedures.
Required Attributes
The ideal candidate will have:
- A first degree in accounting, business, finance or related discipline.
- At least Three (3) years of bank or financial institution audit experience is preferred or other appropriate audit experiences.
- Adequate exposure in evaluating internal controls over financial reporting or having SOX audit experience is preferable. Strong IT skills/background is also required
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. A “self-starter” with a capacity to identify and work on other tasks as needed.
- Strong understanding of bank operations and banking regulations.
- Manage multiple tasks at one time and react positively to a changing environment.
