Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Johnson Pundari has over 17 years of private sector senior management and leadership experience having worked primarily for ExxonMobil PNG Ltd as its National Content Lead and the Institute of Banking and Business Management (IBBM) on various senior roles.He was recruited as the IBBM Enterprise Centre Manager in 2012. He eventually got promoted to General Manager and later appointed as the first PNG national to be the Executive Director in 2016 since the establishment of the institute in 1965. He held this position until May 2022. His 13 years at IBBM was devoted to and passionately helping and building capacities of local SMEs and PNG citizens.He is happy to serve them now in a different capacity with the same passion and vision he has developed in his career.
He has also been on several boards including Chairman of the Telikom Ltd Board, Board of National Fisheries Authority, Board of Datec PNG Ltd, Board of Niugini Media Limited, Board of Kalang Advertising Ltd and the Board of PNG Directories. Under his Chairmanship, Telikom Ltd for the first time has declared a small profit in 2021 Financial Year after so many years of qualified opinions and losses.
He has a Master’s of Business Administration Degree from the Torrens University Australia, a Master of Economics Degree from the University of Hawaii USA, a Bachelors in Economics Degree from the University of Papua New Guinea and several short and specialized course certificates from Harvard Business School, the National University of Singapore and Quality Management and Audit Certificate from Singapore based DNV GL, a global International Standards Certification body. He is also the Vice Chancellors Award Winner of 2002 from the University of Papua New Guinea.
Company Secretary & Principal Legal Officer
Ms. Suzanne Unumba joined NDB in December 2010 as Senior Legal Officer. Prior to joining the Bank, she served 10 years with the Office of the Public Solicitor as a civil litigation lawyer. Suzanne holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law with Honors from the University of PNG as well as a Masters of Business Administration.
Ms. Unumba was confirmed the Company Secretary for the NDB Group in June 2013 and is also the Manager of the Bank’s Legal Department. She is a member of the PNG Law Society and a member of the PNG Institute of Directors.
Chief Financial Officer - CPA PNG, MPA CQU, BBUS SCU
Appointed in January 2021 to the current position. Ms Vene joined NDB since April 2006. She is member of Tender Committee, Board Audit & Risk Committee and ICT Steering Committee. She has over 15 years’ Senior Management experience in the field of Accounting & Finance in the banking sector.
Ms. Vene is a Certified Practicing Accountant and holds a Masters of Professional Accounting (MPA) from Central Queensland University, Australia and Bachelor of Business degree from Southern Cross University, Australia.
Head of Lending
Saipo Sikipris has worked with NDB since June 2021. He is a member of the Lending Committee.
Prior to joining NDB, Mr Sikipris worked with Bank South Pacific and other financial institutions, in credit management positions exercising substantial lending authorities.
Mr. Sikipris holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Executive Manager - Head of Credit
Gary Coplin has worked with NDB since August 2020. He is a member of the Board Audit Risk Committee and the Lending Committee.
Prior to joining NDB, Mr Coplin worked in PNG with Bank South Pacific and with ANZ Banking Group in Australia, in senior strategic risk management positions.
Mr. Coplin is a member of the PNG Institute of Directors, and holds a Master of Commerce (Finance) from the University of New South Wales.
Head of Branch Network
Thomas was appointed as Head of Branch Network with NDB on 22 November 2021. He is a highly qualified professional. He has 19 years’ experience in retail and commercial banking. He held various positions and worked with almost all major commercial banks in PNG starting with Bank South Pacific Ltd, ANZ Banking (PNG) Group Ltd and Kina Bank Limited before joining NDB.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Torrens University, Australia and Bachelors of Economics Degree from University of Papua New Guinea. The other tertiary qualifications include Diploma in Management from PNGIBBM in PNG.
Head of Risk and Compliance
Phillip Magewa Isu has over 20 years’ experience working in the Financial Sector in PNG. Over ten of those years in the senior management positions. Over 20 years’ experience working in the Financial Sector in PNG and in senior management positions in both public sector and private sector. He was also a Director on a number of PNG Companies.
He holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from RMIT University in Melbourne-Australia, Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of PNG. He also has Diploma in Economic Policy Analysis from the National Research Institute of PNG, Certificate in Development Economics from Administrative College in PNG and Certificate in Development Economics from International Development Centre in Japan.
Phillip is a Fellow with the Australian Institute of Management (FAIM) and a Member of PNG Institute of Directors. In July 2019, Mr. Isu completed the International Company Directors Course conducted by Australian Institute of Company Directors. He passed the assessment requirements set by AICD and was awarded the Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
Head of Property, Safety & Security
Mr Yinanguie joined NDB in September 2008 as Manager Property & Safety. Prior to that, he served in a various local organizations in management roles with significant responsibility spanning over 20 years. Mr Yinanguie was elevated to Head of Property Safety and Security in 2014.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and Building. He leads the Property Safety & Security Department and also acts as the client representative for NDB’s ongoing branch expansions.
Manager - Human Resource
Masters in Human Resource Management from the University of Papua New Guinea and is a member of PNG Human Resource Institute. Joined NDB in November 2005 as Senior HR Officer. Appointed as HR Manager in 2008.
Prior to joining NDB was employed 2 years at OTML and 3 years with Word Wide Fund for Nature and International NGO.
Head of - Information & Communications Technology
Brian Simon joined NDB in 2011 as the Network Administrator. He was later appointed IT Security & Network Manager before taking on his current role as the Head of Information & Communications Technology (ICT) in February, 2022.
Prior to joining NDB, Brian was employed by Missionary Aviation Fellow (MAF) as an IT Officer. Brian has Bachelor of Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Divine Word University
